Kitchen backsplash & Fireplace

The fireplace is finished and the kitchen backsplash will be finished once they do the grout.

Floor and countertops

The first photo is the kitchen cabinets. If you look closely you will notice the top drawer on the right doesn't match the other drawers. Evidentially this is what you get when you insist on having a pull-out bread board.
The flooring is installed in the bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen and dining rooms. The second photo is the laundry room, the next one is the master bathroom, then the main bathroom. I also inlcuded a photo of the tile on the fireplace. They will be back to grout the fireplace and to finish the kitchen backsplash probably tomorrow. The installers are Russian Orthodox so they are happy to work tomorrow.


The plumber will be at the house on Monday to finish his work. Our appliances were delivered this week, except the dishwasher. The tub was cracked and the store can't find
a replacement. We had our choice to go with another Frigidaire that was a step down or switch to a Bosch, so we are going with the Bosch.


The electrician will be back on Tuesday to install the lights, then the carpet will be installed on Jan. 4th.

More Cabinets

There's been great progress with the cabinets, just a few more to go. The flooring was delivered today and the appliances will be delivered tomorrow.

Cabinets

One kitchen cabinet has been installed. The builder will continue working on the cabinets on Monday. The living and dining rooms are full of cabinets.

Stain

Progress has been pretty slow this past week. The painter has been working on staining the doors and the trim. I also included a photo of the back of the house since it's been painted and the posts were finished. With all the rain we've had the "yard" has turned into a muddy mess.

Doors & Trim

Most of the interiors doors are up, the builder has started on the window trim, the closet shelves and the mantle. The double doors below are my sewing room and the door to the right is the closet next to the front door.

Paint & Garage Door

The painter has the exterior of the house finished. The photo also shows the garage door which was installed week before last. This week the builder has started working on putting in the door casings.

Progress Report

It's been a pretty productive week, but I don't have any new photos. The gas and electricity have been hooked up and the furnace has been installed, so it's nice and toasty inside the house. The painter is painting the trim and he will be re-painting the gables on Monday. The color we chose for the gables turned out to be a really awful color. I think the new color will be a big improvement.

Front Door & Paint

The color of the gables is still the primer and the trim has not yet been painted. The front door is in, but it's covered by plywood on the outside.

Patio, Porch, Sidewalk

The sheetrock is finally done! Also, the patio, porch and sidewalk have been poured.

Garage Floor, Sheet Rock & Fireplace

It's been a slow week. The concrete for the garage and shop was poured on Tuesday. The gas fireplace was installed on Friday, but you can't see much because it's covered with cardboard. We are hoping they will spray the texture on the sheet rock tomorrow. The sheet rock photo is the master bedroom. The two doorways are the bathroom and closet.

Gutters & Sheet Rock

They put on the gutters and downspouts last week. The sheet rock is up, but they need to finish with tape and mud. Next week they will be pouring concrete for the garage and shop floors, the porch and patio. The painter should also be starting soon.

Siding & Sheet Rock

All that needs siding now is the area around the front door. The ceiling and a few walls have been sheet-rocked.

Siding & Septic System

The last week has been very busy. The siding is on the shop and the east and north sides of the house. The septic tank is in and the trenches for the drain field have been dug. The excavating for the power, gas and phone lines is done. They will start putting up the sheet rock this coming week.

Windows

All of the windows are in except one in the master bedroom and the sliding patio door in the dining room. We are meeting with the builder and the cabinet guy today to make final decisions on the cabinets so they can be ordered tomorrow. The boring under the road for the electrical lines was also done yesterday.

Insulation

The windows have been deliver and the insulation has been put in the walls. They should be putting in the sheetrock next week.

Pump and Fireplace Framing

Our new pump was installed on Tuesday. The framer returned and framed in the fireplace. The roofers are still working on the roof. They should finish up today. The electrician is finished and an inspection is scheduled for today.

The Roof

The framer has finished. Hopefully the roof will be done tomorrow or Wednesday. Brad Johnson will be starting the electrical work tomorrow.

Trusses & OSB

The framer has just a few more trusses to put up. He has more than half of the OSB on the roof. As you can see in the lower photo, he was working today in the wind and the rain. What dedication!

The framers have been working on getting the trusses up on the house. They plan to be done by Tuesday.

The framer has finished putting up all of the walls. The trusses were delivered today and the trusses on the shop were put up.

The house has walls! Today the framers put up the outside walls for two bedrooms and one bathroom. The narrow window that you can see in the close up photo is the bathroom.

Now we have a driveway and the shop has 2 walls up. The plumber worked on the house today and is done with his work for this phase. Tomorrow the heating guys should be there to start putting in the duct work.
